Member Spotlight: Natalie Logan, Esq.
We recently welcomed Natalie Logan, Esq. to our community. Many of us have witnessed the burden that not having an estate plan creates, and even more of us are small business owners who need to have their succession planning in place - Natalie can help!
Let’s Meet Natalie!
What are your current responsibilities and background?
As a partner at my law firm, I specialize in estate and tax planning, trusts, and estate administration. I work with individuals, families, and business owners to ensure their financial and legacy goals are met through thoughtful planning and efficient strategies. I have a passion for taxation and love guiding clients through complex tax decisions, minimizing taxation, and crafting personalized estate plans that protect their assets. I am deeply committed to giving back to the community through active participation in various non-profit organizations, including serving as a certified advanced tax preparer with the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
Did you grow up in Boston? If not, what led you here?
I’m originally from Dallas, Texas. My journey to Boston started with my passion for the arts. I moved here to pursue a Master of Music in Voice Performance at the Boston Conservatory. After completing my degree, I decided to shift gears toward law and attended law school here. Boston’s vibrant academic and professional community drew me in, and it’s now become my home, both personally and professionally. I currently live in Boston with my partner and our golden retriever, Odin.
Tell us more about your role - what led you to this focus?
As a first year law student, I witnessed a veteran lose his home (and sole asset) to a nursing home. When he passed away, his family hired my boss to see if there was anything that could be done to preserve the property for the benefit of his family. The family spent thousands in legal fees and there was nothing that could ultimately be done. This situation could have been avoided with basic irrevocable trust planning. This is one example of why I chose to pursue this area of the law. My goal is to educate families on the best way to preserve and protect their assets, what they have worked so hard for, for the benefit of their families and not for Uncle Sam or anyone/thing else.
What would your clients or colleagues say about you?
My clients and colleagues would say that I am extremely thorough, detail-oriented, and efficient. I am known for putting legal things in "plain english" and meeting clients where they are. I take the time to truly understand each client’s unique situation, and offer solutions that are tailored to their needs. We are a family-run firm, and we treat our clients like family.
What's your most recent win? A moment in your career that you’re proud of?
Helping a client with a Massachusetts taxable estate eliminate any potential estate tax burden through trust planning, business succession planning, and gifting. This year, two of my clients won the MA lottery and they trusted me to serve as Trustee of their respective trusts to claim the lottery proceeds. It was really exciting to advise them on tax and financial strategies.
What is the biggest lesson you've learned so far in your career?
Ask for help when you need it. There is no need to do everything by yourself.
What advice would you give someone just starting in your industry?
My advice to someone just starting in the legal industry is to focus on building strong relationships and never stop learning. At the same time, cultivate genuine connections—with clients, colleagues, and mentors. Law is ultimately about people, and those relationships will help you grow both personally and professionally. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek guidance; collaboration and continuous learning are key to success in this field
What is a book you read that you would recommend and why?
I would recommend Outlive by Peter Attia because it offers a fresh perspective on health and longevity. His practical approach focuses on strategies to enhance not just lifespan but “healthspan”—the number of healthy, active years we can enjoy.
