Now, let’s meet Michael Heaney!
Did you grow up in Boston? If not, what led you here?
I grew up on Long Island, moved to New Hamshire, and will be relocating to Sagamore Beach this summer.
Tell us more about your job or company - what led you to this focus?
I made a career pivot last year to move into higher education. Earning my masters degree led me to want to find a way to encourage others to pursue their educational goals.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Or a mantra you live by?
“Left foot, right foot, breathe. Repeat.” That mantra was shared with me on an Outward Bound hike and I later learned that the late Coach Pat Summitt often said it to her players.
What's your most recent win? A moment in your career that you’re proud of?
Making a career pivot to higher education, which then led to the opportunity to teach a class for the first time.
What is the biggest lesson you've learned so far in your career?
Take chances, and don’t be afraid to fail. Also accept help when it is offered.
What are three things you like to do in your free time?
I am an assistant coach for women’s basketball at UMass Dartmouth and also enjoy running and writing.
